CliniquorixWebsites for UK private clinics

Policy

Editorial Policy

Our guides explain rules and decisions that affect private clinic websites in the UK. This policy sets out how we choose sources, check facts, label commercial interests and correct mistakes.

Who writes the guides

The guides are written and checked by our editor, who uses the pen name Matthew Collins. The editor is not a clinician or a lawyer. The guides explain what rules say and how they affect websites; they are not legal or medical advice.

Sources

  • Primary sources first. We rely on regulators, legislation, official codes and government guidance wherever they exist: for example the Care Quality Commission, the Advertising Standards Authority and the Committee of Advertising Practice, the MHRA, the ICO, the Competition and Markets Authority and the professional regulators.
  • Secondary sources labelled. Where we use a law firm summary, a professional body's article or a news report, the source list labels it as a secondary source.
  • Commercial sources labelled. Price ranges published by agencies or other businesses are labelled as coming from a commercial publisher, because those businesses sell the services they describe.
  • Exact wording where it matters. Rules are quoted word for word when the wording affects what a clinic can do.
  • Dates shown. Each source shows its date where one is published, and each guide shows when it was last checked.

Checking facts

Every figure, date, rule number and quotation is checked against its source before publication. Where a source cannot be reached or does not confirm a point, the point is removed or rewritten. We avoid claims that cannot be checked, such as statistics without a source or descriptions of what "most clinics" do.

Commercial interests

The owner of Cliniquorix has commercial interests in web design services, and Cliniquorix sells website design to clinics. We do not accept payment to feature products, platforms or businesses in our guides, and we do not use affiliate links. When a guide mentions a type of tool, such as a booking platform, it does not name or recommend a specific supplier unless there is a clear reason, which the guide explains.

Illustrations and examples

Concept designs and illustrations on this site show fictional clinics and are labelled as such. Photographs inside concept screens are illustrative artwork, not patients or clinicians. We do not present concepts as client work.

Updates and corrections

Rules that affect clinic websites change, sometimes quickly. We review a guide when we become aware of a change to a rule it covers, and we update the "last checked" date when we do. If you think something is wrong or out of date, email hello@cliniquorix.site with the page and the point. We review every correction request, and where we make a significant correction, we note it on the page.
