What Matthew writes
Matthew writes the guides on Cliniquorix and edits the service pages. The guides cover the topics clinic owners and practice managers ask about when planning a website: displaying CQC ratings, advertising rules for health claims, prescription-only medicines, health data in online forms, reviews and testimonials, consultant fee information, accessibility and cost.
He is not a clinician or a lawyer, and the guides say so. They explain what the rules say and how they affect a website, link to the regulators and legislation behind each point, and leave clinical and legal judgements to the people qualified to make them.
How Matthew checks a guide
- Start from the primary source: the regulator's guidance, the legislation or the official code.
- Quote rules word for word where the exact wording matters, and give the date of the source.
- Use law firm summaries and commercial sources only where a primary source is not available or not readable, and label them.
- Check every figure, date and price against its source before publishing.
- Record the date each guide was last checked, and review it when the rules change.
The full approach is set out in the editorial policy.
